“Near the entrance to Santa Maria della Versa, in the heart of Oltrepo’ Pavese, nestles the farmhouse that Rosita Da Prati, a former French teacher, delivered to new life. With the help of architects Roberta and Antonio Ferrari, seven apartments were born in the nineteenth century building, each one different than the other, where tastefully colored walls blend in elegant harmony with furnishings and other belongings handed down from Aunt Alma, Mamma Pierina and Papà Gustavo. Everything whimsically decorated with a love of things from the past, which transformed antique petticoats into snow-white curtains and munitions crates into nightstands beside beds thoroughly prepared with fine linens. High school textbooks peek out from a writing table, wooden skis decorate a corner and here and there are steamer trunks from college and little marble topped tables. Freshly plastered walls and ceilings embrace immense armoirs and chests of drawers, all heirlooms of the Da Prati family. “I wanted to give new life to things that would have ended up molding in some storeroom”, confesses Rosita whose son, Enrico, manages the family winery and vineyards and produces fine wines that are characteristic of Oltrepo. In the garden there is a swimming pool.”

HOW TO GET THERE:
Exit from A21, the Turin to Piacenza highway, at Stadella and follow the road south to S. Maria della Versa. First street on the right (via don Orione), the entrance is beyond the last house.
